Fact sheet: Sexual health

Working in partnership with WHO Regional Office for Europe, the HBSC study has published a new fact sheet on sexual health and behaviours among young people.

This fact sheet was presented at the 66th session of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe, which brought together Health ministers and high-level representatives of the 53 Member States of the WHO European Region to discuss the sexual and reproductive health action plan: 'Towards achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Europe – leaving no one behind'.

Key findings include:

  • Reports of early sexual activity are generally higher among boys.
  • Prevalence for ever having had sex ranges from 1% in Armenia (girls) to 40% in Bulgaria (boys).
  • The average proportion of 15-year-olds reporting that they have had sex has fallen from 26% to 21% between 2010 and 2014.

For more information download the sexual health fact sheet.

Other HBSC fact sheets on topics including alcohol, bullying and physical fights, dietary habits, mental well-being, physical activity and tobacco are also available via the WHO website
