12th Excellence in Pediatrics conference - 3-5 December 2020

Each year, leading pediatric specialists from around the world gather for the Excellence in Pediatrics conference, which focuses on the latest trends and challenges in child and adolescent health. 

This year, its 12th, the conference is being held online from 3rd-5th December and was organised in collaboration with the Health Behaviour in School-aged Children study and the WHO Collaborating Centre for International Child and Adolescent Health Policy.

Dr Joanna Inchley, HBSC's International Coordinator, was one of the conference co-chairs, delivered a presentation on 'Mental Health in Adolescence' and also moderated several sessions on adolescent health and well-being.

This year the conference welcomes more than 500 attendees, with 230 expert speakers delivering 300 live presentations with over 120 hours of learning over the three days. The programme included an adolescent medicine track which featured a number of HBSC members, including:

  • Alina Cosma: Post Doctoral Researcher, Palacky University Olomouc (Czechia)

  • Andreas Heinz: Research Scientist, University of Luxembourg (Luxembourg)

  • Solvita Klavina-Makrecka: Lecturer, Department of Public Health, Riga Stradins University (Latvia)

  • András Költo: Senior Postdoctoral Researcher Health Promotion Research Centre, National University of Ireland Galway (Ireland)
